What songs make you emotional, be it amorous, teary or angry? Does it help you write?
The song that comes to mind immediately is 'Born This Way' by Lady GaGa. Yes, the first time I heard it I cried because she really captured the whole love yourself no matter what because I was feeling pretty crap because my friends are b1tches. But I can't use it to write because it's too personal, and because writing that kind of emotion would be extremely difficult.
Answer on B&A: Songs that make you emotional?
Here's the short list:
- Wharf Rat by the Grateful Dead (When it gets to the "I'm sure she's been true to me" part, it's just so heartbreakingly hopeful. Oh, and "I'll get up and fly away!")
- Look At You by the Screaming Trees (This one sends shivers down my spine)
- Mad World by Tears For Fears ("I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad. The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had" - Beautiful)
- A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procol Harem (Just such an effing gorgeous, amazing song)
They're all older songs (They were all released before 1997) but they really are amazing. Such emotion. Each of these songs is really special musically, as well - what they do with the chord and note progressions makes them even more emotional. Seriously, give them a Youtube. They're worth it.
