Answer on Is the Italy Saver Pass subject to the steep supplemental fee? How much can it run? e.g, Florence-Rome,80 E+?

The supplemental fees here in Italy used to be quite high, but were reduced some months ago. The supplement depends on the type of train you take. A regional train doesn't require any supplement. Intercity trains will cost 3 euro each for the supplement. The fast trains cost 10 euro per person for the supplement. See: http://www.eurail.com/eurail-reservation… . The train I was on last night was fairly full, but you could still get tickets right up to the time of departure.

Without the pass, a ticket is 16 euro on the regional train, 26.50 on an Intercity train, or 39.90 euro on the fast trains in 2nd class. However, you can get up to 60% off on the fast train tickets for buying in advance (30 days for 60%, less with fewer days advance) or you could have a return ticket in a single day for 35% off.
